Remember that credit card earning miles do not qualify for status miles, that means no lounge access, no priority access etc. when traveling Y class.
However, if one flies less than 25k miles a year, I don't see a point for them to get status for any airline. They might as well churn and burn credit cards and redeem for J/C tickets. I think majority of the population falls into this category, and that's why many FFP program "enhance" their program to benefit high spending customers instead.
I think this will hurt people that flies between 25k to 75k because of the reduced earning rate. They are now group with the people that flies below 25k per year.
