That's the cultural difference, in Asia they almost yell at you for bringing out a Perrier.
Yet I remember years ago, no staff was ever stationed in the lounge at Sheraton LA
so I took bottles of water and soda each morning to the theme parks.
OP, simply call them to remove the charge or just suck it up.
