I just finished a wonderful weekend at the HR MCO. I have stayed at the Grand Cypress a few times and the HR Orlando once when it was the Peabody. However never this one so I wanted to try it out. SO and I had an 8 am appt for Global Entry passes so it was the best excuse to use this hotel. First off, I absolutely love how we could walk out of our room and to the Global Entry office in less than 5 mins!
But as for my review: Like others may notice, it's a little hard to find the first time. Google Maps takes you to the wrong terminal. (Error on Google not the hotel). The lady at the front desk mentioned that lots of people have that issue so they try to put the directions on the website. Also there are signs up for which terminal to take. We just missed it by following Google Maps. However once you take the right terminal, it's still hard to find the parking garage. If you aren't in the left lane, you would pass right by it and have to make the loop. Note: When you do park, go all the way to the top floor and across the bridge. This is the Hyatt parking lot. We missed that the first time and ended up walking through the airport terminal to find the hotel.
We booked the base level King bed but as a Diamond, I knew that we should get an upgrade. I checked my account all week for a change to room type but nothing. I even monitored the rooms left to try to guess what type of room we would get. I assumed it would be the Deluxe King. However, when I checked in I was pleasantly surprised. I asked if we got an upgrade and the lady stated that yes and to one of their best rooms. She didn't tell me all the details but said that I will like it. Sure, enough I did. I later asked the type of room and another lady said one of their best. They call it a presidental suite.
It was on the 6th floor next to the pool. It had a full dining room table (6 people) and separate living room area. The bedroom however was open to the living room minus a wall for the TV. Two huge balconies overlooking the runway. The bathroom though was amazing! Separate tub and shower. 2 sinks. And the tub was actually a jacuzzi tub for 2 people.
The breakfast was pretty good for the most part. My only complaint was that they burned my SO's waffle on the second day while the first day it was perfect. I did like though that you could order a waffle and/or omelet as part of the buffet. Just had to ask. I will admit though that I was confused by the Diamond voucher they gave us. It said does not include taxes or gratuity but I knew from this forum that those are included. However, when we checked out, the waiter said we were good to go. SO did leave a small tip for him though.
All in all, it was a great hotel. I would definitely stay here again. My ONLY true complaint is that there are no plugs near the bed. I couldn't use my phone/tablet at night because they needed to charge. However, I know this is a common problem with lots of hotels.
