My experience is that my bags often make ultra-short connections, even when I don't. And UA is getting better about emailing me that that happened, FWIW so I know to go straight to the office instead of waiting around.

My experience is also that long connections (over 2 hours) for some reason often result in my bag missing the connection. Explain that?!
