You do realise it's not only US citizens and residents that use pre-clearance? While it may be inconvenient for you, for everyone else it's incredibly attractive to not have to clear immigration in the US. We all dread LAX for this reason.
I do. I just described my personal experience. That's my first time using preclearance.
The biggest disadvantage is that I was cut off from the other lounges. I could have stayed in those lounges before going through the preclearance, but wasn't sure how much time I needed.
