Funny you say that, but isn't the trend for North American airlines to also do away with the personal IFEs? Not Africa-specific, so not fair to make such general statements. We have all flown the raggedy 75s on UA, the ex CP A320s on AC, the MD80s and other aircraft in the first world that do not meet some expectations we have developed over the years.

ah rouge and new 739 on ua don't have seatback ife but streaming ife on your device. this is not a claw back. this was done because everyone in n america is travelling with at least a laptop or ipad or two of each. it's a totally different market.
btw you should see the 747s UA deploys on long haul routes..........
the tia/welcome to africa comment refers to how things are not as precise or efficient or with the times as we're used to n america. like my upcoming daytime cptgbeadd on an et 738. but i have a stack of books i need to demolish so it's cool for me.
