I don't think AA has cut any of the TATL flights out of PHL thus far. The FCO one has lost its service in the middle of winter before on US, but it is usually just for a few weeks (probably to take the plane for Caribbean destinations). Unfortunately, for you, this was when you were travelling.

For the other "cuts", one was the daytime PHL-LHR, which was only a temporary placeholder anyway. The other one, PHL-EDI, is currently rumored to be coming back in 2016. With this, it would be a net zero gain/loss for PHL TATL flights thus far since the announcement of the merger 2 years ago.
