For safety and peace of mind, at MEX you might want to try Hertz. They offer a chaufeur driven car service at reasonable rates (although much more than a regular taxi).

I believe they can meet you at baggage claim, which might help out since you've a child (and presumably a fair bit of luggage) with you.
