Caution--Pay Attention to UA Refunds

Back in December, I booked a MR from YYZ to SIN on UA for February on united.com. Immediately after booking, I got a gentle reminder from Mrs. RevvedUp that my money (sorry, our money) could probably be put to better use (such as buying that first house in TO--anyone know a good buyer's agent for Riverdale? )

Anyway, long story short, I immediatly called ua.com, and, in accordance with their United Promise to refund any ticket within 24 hours, the refund was duly processed.

Just got my CC bill, and noticed that the amount charged for the ticket (~C$1200) was greater than the refund (~C$900). After a long runaround on the phone, finally spoke to a nice agent at United refunds who told me that there was probably a currency issue and that I'd have to fax in my CC statement to get credited for the difference. Looks like the amount of the refund (~C$900) is the amount of US dollars that was equivalent to the Canadian dollar price of the ticket, but in Canadian dollars. Make sense?

My point is, if you have to get a refund from UA, make sure you get the full refund you're entitled to.
