Glad to see a post about redemption bookings as they seem to be somewhat lacking on the QR forum.

Availability does seem to be pretty good actually. I too have amassed a hoard of miles and am using them to book a multi stop trip next year. I'm watching hawk eyed at my dates which are about to open up (12 months minus 1 week seems to be the norm) but for research into general availability I have made dummy bookings for dates much closer and found the same as you. On some routes availability is wide open in all classes and others seem to have a mix of dates for Y and J. Booking at close range for routes with multiple frequencies (e.g. LHR-DOH) I've seen more Flexi awards (2 x the miles) than booking further out.

I've taken the risk of booking the flights one at a time as and when they are becoming available, I think with most things if it's available then go ahead and book to avoid disappointment. I'm not overly concerned about getting the other flights on redemption bookings as they are seemingly pretty easy to obtain.
