I have been re-routed, delayed, misconnected on American Airlines, but each time my luggage was smoothly transferred.

On one occasion the luggage was delayed for more than 24 hours (insufficient transfer time), and my insurance payout was $300 in shopping money! I didn't want to ask AA for compensation as I felt that they already did an ultra cool job of locating it and delivering it right to my doorstep (I didn't have to lug both crazy suitcases home)! More power to them!

That's about my one single experience. Oh, wait, there was another occasion a decade ago when my bags took a flight to Hong Kong while I vacationed in Singapore! Geesh!
