Redeemed a one-way award EWR-GVA in J on TP connecting in LIS. There is a UA nonstop flight to GVA leaving around the same time that didn't have any saver availability. Should I bother to try switching to the UA-metal flight when I arrive at the airport in the interest of saving miles or would saver availability still be required even at T-24?
While economy saver might be available just prior to departure, it is rare to see business saver inventory open up that late. To switch there will need to be saver space -- it may happen but UA tends to focus on upgraders instead.
