I'm an outlier on this board, and thus would enjoy any resort at the Maldives and even more so if I were on a freebie trip (paid by resort, points, etc...). The Maldives are beautiful and I'd be happy at the Conrad, especially if free!

high maintenance personality:

Good Value:
COMO resorts

Family:
Four Seasons

Freebie:
Park Hyatt, Conrad

And there are probably 20 other resorts that are basically as good as the above. My advice would be to pick something with a 4/3 or free transfers, etc... to save money.
