It is not that easy having that spent on AMEX. Even in Sweden not all shops take AMEX, you cannot pay (at least without 3% penalty) your rent, taxes, phone or any arbitrary invoice with AMEX etc.

The amount of points you get out of MedMera is nice but even there you have to spend 60k SEK for 10k EuroBonus points(*). Good luck spending 480k on toilet paper (for 80k points) and another 100k on the AMEX (for a 50% voucher and another 20k points) a year. Then you have 100k points and 50% voucher for a C award to the East cost - next challenge is to find award space.

I guess I spend about 15k to 20k private money a month which can be charged to a card - more than half of it cannot be charged to AMEX. Without charging all my business travel expense on the AMEX I wouldn't even make the 150k for the travel voucher on the AMEX, I think.

The AMEX and MedMera offer sound really generous but if you work out the details it is not that easy.

(*) if you shop at lot at COOP which I do not as there isn't any around. COOP purchase will give double points.
