Chaps, I'll keep this short.

I'm a bronze EC member. That should allow me to select seats at T-7.

I'm flying to New York (Club World, UuA from Premium Economy) next Wednesday at 4.10pm.

Just tried to select a seat (not exit row) - BA still want to charge me.

Phoned their call centre and after an extremely long wait, the guy (who didn't inspire confidence) told me that I can select seats for free from tomorrow (i.e. Thursday at 4.10pm).

I've never read the rules that way (and haven't had problems with timing before) - the friend I'm flying with also didn't read it at that way.

Are we wrong? Or is the BA guy mistaken? The BA website says I can "select seats for free 24 hours in advance", which makes me feel there might be an error.
