It's true I've flown to the US before, but this was my first itinerary with a domestic connection. I never flew the ticket related to my question in the last year's thread you mentioned, as I was ill and had to cancel.
As I said there are announcements and signs in the immigration hall and baggage hall.
You accept this was your own fault. If I was in your position I would be embarrased to be asking compensation from BA. Even though they are saying no, you are now going back and insisting? Do you know there are some real legitimate complaints on this board about service failings by BA which I have a lot of time and sympathy for, but this really isn't one.
The main thing is that you wanted your luggage and despite your mistake it is being located and forwarded at no cost and should be with you in 24 hrs. I can't see why you are due anything more.
