Forgot to collect bag at arrival in the US before domestic transfer
I'm on an ex-EU trip and I've just flown OSL-LHR-DEN-LAX.
Unfortunately, due to my stupidity (I knew this but I forgot) and to BA's failure to instruct me (no one at Oslo or Heathrow informed me), I didn't collect my bag and checked it in again at Denver. I've reported to AA in LAX, and they said they'll deliver it to my hotel.
I've spoken already to BA Customer Relations and made a complaint, as I think they are at fault for not having informed it. I asked for compensation and they said no, but I'll insist. Even the luggage tag says LAX as its final destination. How would one without previous knowledge be supposed to know? There was a couple on my same itinerary that had the same issue.
The other question is: what is my situation now as far as claiming expenses is concerned? I have insurance via my Amex cards, but I'm afraid they may refuse to pay out claiming that it was my fault. And I have the same fear if I decided to claim with AA directly. Any thoughts? I'd like to buy a few things in the morning but I would not want to remain out of pocket.
I hope the bag will be with me within 24 hours...
