Hertz has given us some pretty good upgrades, the SAN office especially. 5-star golds are supposed to get an automatic upgrade, but they often go above & beyond. When we have a convention to drive to (lots of equipment), we've gotten mini-vans for the price of a Taurus. Once they gave us an Exploder - it takes a fair amount of equipment but drives like a truck. What DO people see in them?

We've also discovered that a Taurus has as much carrying capacity as a Grand Marquis, handles better and has better gas mileage.

In our experience, Dollar has a nasty habit of letting its franchisees rip off the customers (or Diners Club).
