You could buy the miles for those flights for about 30k total. Instead of the 70k that is going to be paid.

Just book, buy miles and cancel. Or buy after you book awards. Many miles of course it would be 1.6 million if you wanted biz RT for 10 months. The miles would cost you about 30k at current rates. Of course, you won't get any credit but the $ savings would more than off set that.

You can book one way awards and not worry about the 7 day restriction.

I checked award flights on UA from SEA and there are many options both directions for awards on the Saturdays I checked.

It may sound a little far fetched and would take some time and effort, but you would be saving who ever is paying 40k. Your boss would think you were a hero.

Just a thought....
I shudder to think what the corporate travel department would think if I tried something like this.

I've actually been thinking of also possibly doing Asiana one way and then NH/UA back the other. The two one way flights price out pretty nicely. I need to ask my corporate travel agents and see what they think of two one way flights.
