Yes you do indeed look at the person opposite and keep your fingers crossed that they keep their socks on. Don't be surprised if your seat does not recline, the air conditioning does not work, the electrics are faulty and the entertainment system cannot be seen due to a blemished screen. I have written to Etihad showing my dissatisfaction, but they feel those problems don't impact on the business class customer enough to warrant any kind of compensation. Hence their loss Emirates gain.
Are you serious they feel knowingly providing a sub standard product is acceptable? They have put in writing that they do not regard these issues as important?
Last time I flew with them they gave me 10,000 miles for a faulty entertainment unit but problem is that was my last flight with Etihad and my next flights are with Qatar
