Just back from a 10 day drive around Iceland
Back from 10 days of driving the length and breadth (and heights) of Iceland. Weather? Well, the Icelanders like to call this summer "special". We had one day of solid rain (luckily that was last full day, mostly spent at Blue Lagoon, so wet didn't bother us), one morning of solid rain, 2 days of great sunshine, and 6 days of partly/mostly cloudy or overcast. Never saw less than 42 degrees nor more than 62 degrees. Never had a clear night, so never got to see a dark sky, which was our only disappointment
Had some great meals, had some bad meals. Stayed in some great hotels, stayed in some crappy ones. Drove on some good roads, drove on some terrible ones (and those were the most fun).
We really really loved the country. Wardrobe advice from other threads (sturdy hiking boots, lots of layers) was spot on. Now we need to do a winter visit to see the Aurora.
