Booked two one ways, LHR-GVA and GVA-LHR.

Booked it as two separate tickets because there's a chance I may not make the outbound LHR-GVA, if my flight from US is late.

I asked Swiss Air and they said if I missed the outbound of the round-trip ticket, my return would be invalid.

So on ITA and United, they came about the same price, £93 for round-trip or $85 each way on United.com. Figured I might as well get PQDs (turns out UA is saying it will be $18 PQDs each way).

Got two "reservation" emails from UA, saying they've requested ticketing from LX, which may take up to 24 hours. Two separate confirmation numbers.

At the bottom of both "reservation" emails, it says no baggage charges for the first checked bag, up to 62 inches, 23 kg.

But got a ticketing email for the LHR-GVA flight (which I actually booked second) and at the bottom it says there will be €30 charge for the first checked bag!

I still have not received the ticketing email for the GVA-LHR flight.

If I have to pay €30 additional each way, or €60 total, it raises the fare by almost 50% for both flights.

On swissair.com, there are no indications that their economy flights have charges for the first checked bag. The one ticketed flight is a K fare.

Anyone encounter baggage charges on LX flights booked through united.com vs. booking from swissair.com?
