Always do it before. After I enter the amount, it prompts to insert/swipe or whatever. Maybe the customer is just leaving the card in the slot too long. I've had a transaction where we were just both waiting and talking about how this sucks, and I noticed on the Pin Pad it said 'REMOVE CARD'
. I just got the Pin Pad, so I'll have to experiment some more.
