Alaska Soon bookable online with BA Avios

So I just got off the phone from a rep in the UK (Canadian phone line said it would be 15 minute hold, got on right away through the UK number)

I had her price out a YYJ-SEA leg to check for availability. And she mentioned two interesting things I didn't know

1. AS Availability with Avios is W Class
I looked on Alaska and found several flights for the day available for the low AS points which I thought indicated those flights would be available. She said there was only one and explained to me that they can only use W Class availability to book with Avios

2. Should be bookable on BA.com
When I asked her to price it she told me the Avios, fees and taxes then said it would also cost the over the phone fee. She asked if I had searched online and I said no because it doesn't show AS availability and she said as early as this morning a memo went out saying they fixed the system and Alaska flights could now be booked online. She also said "But I wouldn't hold my breath" and mentioned if I couldn't book it online, I could call back up and get the fee waived as it was not bookable online. Very nice lady

Just went online to try book it and alas it comes up sayng our partners don't fly to those airports blah blah blah. So as she predicted, they have only just started the process. But will be pretty great to do this without having to call in the future!
