I have the same impression as you (that the property is underwhelming in terms of luxury/fancy). The very reason why I am assuming that Club in this case could make a big difference. It reminds me a bit of the concept of the Sheraton Maldives where the Club lounge is almost a separate hotel in the hotel, with dedicated services and facilities. I will email the hotel and ask what they could offer in case I would book an award room.
It was USD. The first offer was 130.00 and I asked if this was FJD but was told US. Still figured it was worth for the last night. Then when we wanted to finalize we were told they had made a mistake and forgot one zero. Granted they offered a 2 bed/2 bath unit, but nothing worth such a dramatic charge.
Even at the Club there is hardly any luxury. It's located higher on the hill, so the views of the ocean are much nicer, granted. But all the buildings are close together, the rooms are only slightly larger, some 2/2 units come with a private small spa size pool. The view on the one we saw was towards another building. Food in the lounge comes from below, same stuff. Alcoholic drinks ae charged. They do have an exclusive adult pool, which is small. The Club is less frequented than the regular hotel so by definition it's less crowded and more private.
I guess one has to be a golf fan to really appreciate this property.
