I agree, though Kayak.com does have a setting to show total price (including resort/nuisance fees).

I will say that I've never had a Hilton spring a fee on me that I didn't know at time of booking, even if the resort fee/service fee doesn't show in the room rate. (Service fees tend to happen overseas, and they're often required by the government.)
