I lost a SK-flight (together with my boss!) two years ago on a flight FRA-CPH. And it was expensive, as we were on eco-low tickets. And we got a 3 hour punishment.
We had waited in a distant lounge (as there is no in Pier B where SK often uses bus gates from) and arrived T-14-T-15. Gate closed! No mercy even if we had checked luggage.
Our boarding passes had shown T-25 or T-30. At the gate I was told, that in reality (FRA and SK and bus gate) gate would close 17 minutes prior to departure. I have remembered that ever since...
I agree with you entirely. This was a very expensive learning experience...
When they arrive tomorrow I will ask them if they logged their arrival time at the gate. They told me that the reason for their lateness was a very long security line.
