I still don't understand why anybody would ask the airline they're flying with about earning rate if you're crediting to another program. Air NZ an tell you the booking class, but it's up to the partner to decide what points they give.
The airline you are flying with (the airline you pay)
buys miles from your ffp to reward(bribe) you for flying with them. If that airline will not pay your ffp you get zilch. The partner will not
give miles to anyone. FFP also
sells miles to credit card companies, hotels & rental car. For many selling miles is a good cash earner, and more than flying aircraft. Selling miles is a commercial business operation.
