This would have created a dupe booking, which may well have caused part of the new PNR to cancel. It's okay to temporarily create a dupe - but the original would quickly need to be cancelled to prevent it clashing with the new one.

It also sounds like it isn't the OP travelling on the new J booking, but a 3rd party.
