The Hotel Pennsylvania does not have a good reputation, but they have done a great deal recently to upgrade the rooms. The one benefit it has over any other NYC hotel is that it puts you in the direct ambience of the Garden. When there is an event at MSG, such as a Rangers game or a concert, you get a sense of anticipation from the crowd milling about on Seventh Avenue that you don't get from any other entertainment complex in the world. And that includes Yankee Stadium, Wembley, Wrigley Field, or any other facility. IT is a totally unique New York experience.
I hav eliked the Herald Square hotel - fairly close - lots of foreign tourists, decently helpful staff, very good rates on single rooms especially. EVERYONE smokes there esp the tourists but I think they have a mini continental breakfast in the morning .
