You can change which frequent flyer programme you credit those flights to until departure.

However, if UK based (and also flying CE), then I'd disagree with craigthemif above. There are many other ways to earn Avios points in the UK.
There are NOT that many ways to earn American Airlines miles - unless you really know what you are doing. So I'd not suggest anyone who isn't certain they know what they are doing to credit to AA.

If starting out and UK based, BAEC a good bet.
