You read correctly. Max 2 CREDIT cards.

So, if you apply for the SPG Business, and are approved, you'll be contacted by Amex via phone call to get your permission to close down one of your older CCs (SPG Personal or SimplyCash), else if you're not willing to, then they will abort your application. Either way, at this point you'll have triggered a credit pull. FWIW, that's my experience.
