First, congrats on Gold!
Avoid the website change option. It sucks, and is broken.
On the app, when you have your reservation up, look for Travel Options. What you want to see is the graphic of the dark haired smiling man with the flight info board in the background. He only appears when there's a valid flight to change to. That guy is your friend!
On a similar note, when you have a cash upgrade available, you see a graphic of a first class seat with a glass of white wine. You can check these offers too--usually it's not worth it.
