Any apps which use data (messaging, VoIP) will work OK, and do not require any extra charges; VoIP here has been degrading.

Awesome. I don't really need excellent quality for VoIP as I'll only need to call home a couple times (messaging will suffice for the most part).

I will probably pick up the traveller SIM when I get there! Thank you
