I had the same exchange with AARP customer service; very annoying to receive multiple generic responses to a very specific question. One response even suggested I email AARP customer service! I pushed back multiple times and finally got a reply several weeks ago that actually addressed my question. The rep advised that the program was under review and AARP hoped to announce a renewal soon.
Very surprised and pleased today to receive a follow-up email advising that the program has been extended. Purchase by 31 Oct 2016 and travel by 31 Mar 2017. The BA discount page on aarp.org isn't updated, but I assume will be soon. Attempted a booking for April 2016 travel and the discount seems to be applied.
