Is having AVOD on the UA TATL 763's truly hit or miss?
Every now and then I find myself on UA. This hasn't been a problem per se but I somehow conspired to find myself on a 763 TATL Y flight ex-EWR mid Dec.
Wasn't sufficiently involved in the booking process to realize it was a 763. Imagine my shock when I finally got around to looking at the details and realized AVOD is hit or miss on these aircraft. Bit odd for 2015, but I have no shortage of colleagues who've pointed out 'yeah well, it's United'. I thought it might be an AC Rouge type experience, but even that looks doubtful - streaming IFE not guaranteed either. From what I gather, the price isn't cheap either.
So what's the deal: do these aircraft often go out without any form of AVOD IFE? Is there an outside. chance that I might have a shot at a an apparently superior product comparable to Rouge (a poorly regarded airline by most accounts). And what's the deal with the new Y catering? I suspect it would struggle to fall to AC's terrible Y catering, but then again it's UA.
Anyone fly these birds ex-EWR? My expectations are low (although whether they're sufficiently low to make UA bearable remains to be seen) but I m hoping for some good news (streaming IFE perhaps?)
