Taking my family to Lake Garda in Northern Italy. It's Italy's largest lake and there is a ton of stuff for families to do--hike, golf, tennis, windsurf, horseback riding, swim, rent boats, etc. Also can take day trips to Venice and perhaps Florence (looong day) if so inclined. Also, close to Switzerland and Austria for some side trips. This way, you can do family stuff, as well as take in some European history, culture and art if so inclined.
