Would TMP–LHR or TMP–TXL make sense?

Nowadays, Tampere is recognized as the second city / urban area in Finland. Turku and Tampere used to fight for this 2nd place, but Turku lost the battle years ago. Tampere has good and desirable study opportunities and recent statistics show that Tampere attracts people with a university education – not just those who graduate from the universities there, but others as well.

Ryanair used to fly many routes year-round from TMP and if their comments are anything to go by, the reason they are leaving was not that the routes operated at a loss but more the fact that Finland lies too far from the continent – they can gain more profit from operating those planes on short hops in continental Europe instead of having them fly all the way to TMP.

Against this background, I'm wondering if TMP could support some selected European non-stop destinations. The demand is obviously there (Ryanair), but are people willing to pay AY prices?

I'm mostly thinking LHR, which is attractive in its own right and is sure to create some O/D traffic, but it's also the home base of BA and has a host of oneworld opportunities. Travel to the US would only require one stop from TMP as opposed to two stops now.

Another possible destination might be TXL for connections on AB.

What do you think, would these be viable as daily or Dx6 destinations?

TMP is the only Finnish airport besides HEL that I believe could sustain any international traffic (save for occasional charters).
