I don't believe Maria26 is contemplating a balance transfer. She wants to reallocate a portion of her credit line from a card with a high interest rate to a card which has a 0% promotional rate.

I know that. My plan was to pay off the 8000, then transfer the available credit to the quicksilver and make that the 10k card, for example. Then I can use it and carry a balance if I want to and have zero interest. My understanding from reading the explanation of the OP is that he/she has an $8k balance that she doesn't want to pay the high interest on. They were thinking they could pay off the balance and then charge up the 0% interest card, but wanted the credit line moved over. The second bolded part seems to imply that they are thinking of moving over (balance transfer) the amount owed if they would let her. Since the OP seems to be new at this, I wanted to inform them that credit cards don't just let you move balances around and that there are balance transfer fees. Also, many times, 0% intro rates are not good on balance transfers.
