Different award ticket selection via different accounts

This morning I was trying to book award tickets for my parents through their MileagePlus accounts. They each had only enough miles for their own tickets so my plan was to book one ticket via one account and the other ticket via the other account. I queued up the ticket via my dad's account but my mom's account would only display a small subset of the tickets available via my dad's account. I tried everything, triple-checking search criteria, restarting the browser, clearing cookies, waiting, etc. I had my mom call in but whoever she spoke to told her that the flight she was referring to was full. I got fed up and booked both of their tickets via my own account which worked fine. Has anyone else run into this sort of thing?
