I bought them today.
Although I intended to buy the Aiwas, at the end I bought the Sony-NC10. Why? Because they only had Sony at the airport store in Singapore. I paid aprox. US$102.
What do I think?
Yes, they work. They did not surprise me at first. Yes, they reduce the background level. Considerably. But not so much as to really impress me. At first. But after a while, if you take them off, then you really notice the high level of background noise.
As for those comments about these being easier to sleep with on the side as opposed to the bigger ones, I disagree. The protude out from your ear. No way I could rest my head on the side better with these that with the bigger units, This thing would push into your ear.
Did I like them? Yes. But was I impressed? Not much. Yes, I will keep taking them with me in every trip. I like them. But I think that there is still a way to go in terms of delivering a better more comfortable product.
I will not be buying any other headphone soon. I will stick to these. But my recommendation would be to try a model that rests on your ear, and doesnt have to actually go inside.
By the way, I liked very much how music sounded with my own MP3 jukebox. However, the connecting plug is made thinking of the typical USA domestic little plug, so I could not interface it with the headphones on the 777 CX metal today. But I managed to put the airline's headphones over the Sonys and I managed to see the movie.
