i'm flying JFK-LAX in confirmed IN space (which is no longer available). i would like to append BOS-EWR to the beginning of that, so BOS-EWR//JFK-LAX. the EWR//JFK transfer is exactly 4hrs (2:30 to 6:30).

BOS-EWR (on UX) only has XN space - that's not an issue, right? i would think that it wouldn't require any extra miles and i'd also be waitlisted for IN.

anyways, i called and the rep said that the EWR//JFK transfer would make this a roundtrip flight and it priced out at 50k. aren't the three NYC airports considered co-terminals? i searched and only co-terminal stuff from the AA forum showed up, so maybe i'm imagining things.
