I think a separation of prices and comfort would be a better comparison, and to be honest the OP article was not very clear and objective.
In terms of comfort, almost every J I flew with beats the best Y in the world. There's just no comparison, more privacy & bigger seats being the ultimate perks in the air. Put it this way, you can bring your own food & entertainment. But I can't think of way to bring onboard extra leg room.
In terms of cost, SQ's Y is quite a bit higher then most others. But it might be worth while, to pay that bit more for a nicer flight, service, meals, etc. For regional holiday travels in Asia, I usually go with SQ if the flight is longer then 6 hrs.
