In literally hundreds of BA flights in First and Club World I've never been refused a pre-departure champagne (excluding Saudi Arabia).
On 18 QR flights I've been refused pre-departure champagne in First and Business Class on 5 occasions (on every departure I've made from CDG and CPH).
In CPH I was told that champagne was not available until airborne, due to not having duty paid champagne on board. Admittedly, if they cater all the bar from DOH it is complex. But is that difficult to get the Copenhagen caterer to load 2 duty paid bottles?
