GF seems perfectly functional to me, even during peak noon hour. The staff is a bit touch and go, but same can be said for other airlines I believe. Only qualm I have was the shower facility (or lack off). I've always found a shower after a long flight and with a onward journey, does help a lot to let you arrive at final destination more relaxed.
If you use the word 'functional' and BA use the words 'luxurious' and 'elegant' then there's a clear gap between what BA are advertising and what they are delivering.
If you're going to set my expectations when I'm paying high amounts of money for a flight - you need to deliver on them.
I don't disagree that the First lounge isn't bad - but it's also not great. My experiences of the CCR didn't really rank that much higher than the First lounge - sure it was quieter, but it didn't feel like that much of a lift.
