I've stayed here and the breakfast in the lounge at the Grand doesn't come close to the quality and variety in the restaurant.
Again I am not normally a Marriott defender but your comments of being disappointed with Marriott are way off as this may have been a hotel scam as you call it but had nothing to do with Marriott as management.

As it turns out, complimentary breakfast was served in the executive lounge... so those $25 would have bought me the "privilege" of eating just about the same breakfast but on the ground floor restaurant...
Quite disappointed with Marriott...
