Years ago they were a small Mid-Wilshire car rental agency, that was seemingly tied to a Ford dealer (I used to work two blocks away). They have gotten very large over the years.

I have no first-hand experience with them, but about a year ago a friend used them at LAX, with no complaints. Their posting rates ( http://www.midwaycarrental.com/ ) seem attractive.
