Not sure which demographic you are thinking of, but the business case here is based on the level of trade and interaction between the tech industry in and around San Francisco / Silicon Valley and Israel. That has nothing to do with leisure tours and the like which will go for lower prices over non-stop. No different than going the other way to tech centers in India and skipping traditional destinations.
