Possible food poisoning on JL62, 9/27
Was anyone here on JL flight 62 on 9/27, NRT to LAX?
We were a party of four in first - so half the cabin. (If you're the guy we met on the plane going back to Houston, drop me a PM!)
Of the four of us, three got food poisoning somewhere along the way. I'm happy to say that I was the one who escaped the intestinal problems. My wife and our two friends were not so fortunate.
So I'm wondering if this happened to anyone else. I'm also wondering if anyone has ever mentioned this type of thing to Japan Airlines. My friend entered a complaint about it on the JAL website, but that was a week ago and there has been no response. We aren't looking for compensation really, but at least an acknowledgement of the issue and an apology would be nice.
And we have more flights booked on JAL in first, so we'd like some assurances that this was an anomaly and that we can feel safe eating the food on these upcoming trips.
All four of us chose the Japanese option. I know my wife didn't eat the beef on the sukiyaki, and I'm pretty sure my friend's wife didn't have any of the sukiyaki at all - or the egg, rice, and dried fish served with it (by the way, the sukiyaki was really delicious).
So that leaves the initial five appetizers, or the middle course. My wife didn't have dessert (which was too bad, since that was also great). Frankly, I didn't think the first two courses were all that great, but none of us thought they were 'off' at all.
To give more detail on the situation, our two wives were feeling terrible by the time the plane landed. My wife took the airsick bag with her in case of mishaps in the airport. My friend had the feelings come on later that day.
The other food we ate that day was the (very good) sushi in the JAL lounge at Narita. We also all had the same ramen in Tokyo earlier in the day. I feel like the timing of the whole thing eliminates these two as potential vectors, but I include them to be complete.
I hope this was an isolated incident.
