OK, I'm being dramatic and exaggerating, but there's more than just a grain of truth in this.
As someone who
always pays for my own seats, as opposed to being a travel writer who suddenly finds that he had to fund his own trip plus that of his kids, I feel more qualified to make a judgment on what constitutes better value.
I've always looked at value, whereas it seems to be something of a novelty to the freshly-minted father who for once has to fork out for his own ticket.
